The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation Development Volunteer Coordinator has energy and passion for the REC Foundation mission.  This Volunteer Coordinator role leads volunteer coordination for REC Foundation hosted events and online competitions including the annual VEX Robotics World Championship event. The position is based in Greenville, TX and reports to the Event Production Manager.

Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Coordinates volunteer recruitment for REC Foundation hosted events.
  • Collaborates with REC Foundation staff to identify volunteer needs.
  • Develop relationships with sponsors to develop local volunteer bases in coordination with the Development and Leadership teams.
  • Prepare internal and external corporate documents for team members and industry partners.
  • Respond to volunteer phone and email inquiries
  • Prepare volunteer training materials
  • Develop and transmit strategic volunteer communications
  • Refer interested volunteers to appropriate regional support managers
  • Develop and oversee volunteer appreciation initiatives
  • Prepare post-event community service certificates
  • Volunteer Management Platform:
    • Provide feedback to developers for system improvements
    • Train volunteers and Event Partners to use the system
    • Manage volunteer positions/roles
    • Manage volunteer care team message inbox
    • Maintain and create custom reports on roles and groups
  • Lead volunteer recruitment for VEX Robotics World Championship:
    • Work with convention and visitor bureaus to market volunteer opportunities
    • Coordinate with Development on identifying volunteers through sponsor partnerships.
    • Post volunteer opportunities on online service portals
    • May attend recruitment events within identified region
  • VEX Robotics World Championship Volunteer Coordinator
    • Lead the Volunteer Check-in Registration desk
    • Collaborate with RECF staff to ensure volunteer roles are filled
    • Assist in the supervision of volunteers
Additional Duties
  • Support REC Foundation Online Challenge program:
    • Collaborate with Development and Programs staff to identify Online Challenges and sponsors.
    • Recruit and coordinate Volunteers for Online Challenge judging.
    • Create and manage Online Challenges on the website.
    • Offer professional customer support by responding to all Online Challenge phone, email, and forum inquiries in a timely manner.
    • Solicits feedback from users and sponsors to identify areas of improvement.
  • May assist with additional projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Energy and passion for the REC Foundation mission is essential.
  • Ability to inspire and build relationships with a diverse public.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of executive administrative experience
  • Able to uphold strict level of confidentiality
  • Initiative and resourcefulness; experience as a self-starter
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills are a must.
  • Computer competency and ability to learn new programs
  • Willingness and ability to travel
    • Ability to travel domestically to annual VEX World Championship event, other REC Foundation hosted events, and volunteer recruitment events.
    • Availability to work weekends may be required when support is needed for RECF hosted events.
  • Ability to interface on a professional level at all times with a variety of different personalities all the way from co-workers to sponsors to customers
