Social Media Specialist


The Social Media Specialist for the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation has energy and passion for the mission and vision of the REC Foundation. This position is primarily responsible for all aspects of the REC Foundation’s social media.


  • Manage and develop all of the REC Foundation’s multi-channel social media, web, and digital content to increase brand awareness and community engagement
  • Finds ways to innovate, create, and streamline copy and design across multiple communications channels
  • Actively engage, monitor, and respond across all social media channels 
  • Excited about connecting educators with robotics education, competition, and workforce readiness programs to drive STEM forward for the next generation of student-led innovators
  • Expert in all areas of social media and able to act quickly and be informed on news, trends, and best practices
  • Extremely active communicator and superior response rate
  • Develop content and design graphics to support the engagement strategic partners 
  • Create engaging and easy to access internal content working closely with Human Resources and Leadership 
  • Actively research current trends in content marketing areas of focus (social media, digital design, SEO, analytics)
  • Streamline workflows on internal teams to enhance productivity and content engagement
  • Design web graphics and write web content for and
  • Create templates and guides for REC Foundation staff to represent our brand within the community
  • Create and manage social media content calendar, web content calendar, and email marketing content calendar 
  • Produce monthly content marketing reports & dashboards for staff and Leadership, providing key findings, recommendations and strategies to amplify content marketing efforts and impact


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (strong preference for marketing or communication degree)
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Content writing, editing, and proofreading experience
  • Acute attention to detail along with outstanding written, verbal, and digital communication skills
  • Expert in digital graphic design & Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Work well with team members of all levels and across departments internally and externally
  • Expert project management skills, like time management, goal-setting, multitasking, and prioritization
  • Able to work weekends and continually monitor and engage on social media platforms
  • Experienced in “working from home” with demonstrated success in remote work
  • Ability to be actively engaged as a remote staff member and key contributor to the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced organizational skills and strong leadership skills
  • Hands-on experience with HTML and content management systems
  • Expert in email marketing platforms like MailChimp
  • Expert in social media management platforms like Sprout Social
  • Expert in all web-based / cloud-based file sharing and productivity tools like Google Workspace, Dropbox, Asana, Microsoft, Slack, and ability to quickly get up to speed on other web-based tools and apps
  • Proficiency in marketing automation technology
  • Expert in SEO/SEM and Google Analytics and other database analytics tools
  • Excellent reporting and administrative skills
  • Able to travel domestically to REC Foundation-hosted events, to the Greenville, TX office as necessary for meetings, and to the VEX Robotics World Championship annually in Dallas, TX 

Salary Range:

  • $50,000 - $55,000
