Event Partners are the core of VEX competition programs. Their passion and involvement grows and sustains the events and in many cases even the teams themselves. The role of an EP is to coordinate a team that organizes tournaments, leagues, scrimmages, and workshops. The key tasks are date and site selection, budget, volunteer recruiting and management, volunteer training, team communication, event execution, results, and follow-up.
As we begin the 2020-21 Season, we are excited to introduce a new requirement for qualifying event postings for Tournaments and Leagues within RobotEvents to enhance and improve the overall competition event experience for our Event Partners, volunteers and students alike.
Event Partners, Team Coaches, and Mentors are invited to the Virtual REC Foundation Summit (formerly the EP Summit) on July 20-22, 2021. Join us as we continue the tradition of providing an interactive space for presentations, training, and discussions to help you make the most of the 2021-2022 competition season. Registration and more details will be coming soon.
Showcase Events provide an opportunity for teams to play in-person tournaments with multiple organizations within an extended event region. Teams can showcase their robots and present their efforts to in-person judges and experience an end-of-season in-person event to showcase their accomplishments. These events should only be held in areas where it is safe to do so and be done in a safe manner following all COVID-19 related guidelines.
The REC Foundation's Signature Events give teams the opportunity to play at a tournament that is of the highest caliber. Thanks to the dedication of Event Partners who are willing to provide these events, a large percentage of teams will be able to experience these world class events. Applications to host Signature Events are open to all experienced Event Partners.

The REC Foundation created the Volunteer Management System, an online software and scheduling tool for volunteer management to help solve volunteer recruitment and scheduling challenges. The VMS is integrated with RobotEvents. Administrators will have the ability to use predetermined roles and/or add event specific roles. Developers are currently working on updates based on the feedback received from the 2019-2020 beta-testers.
